A slightly quieter one this month as people recover from their summer holibobs. Still a few good shows and clubs to be had this month though!
Old Fashioned – Old Queens Head Islington
Firstly we highly recommend retro open mic night “Old Fashioned” which returns on Wednesday September 13th. The strictly pre-1965 playlist draws from a rich vein of soul and jazz classics, delivered by a pro session band and a host of top singers. It runs from 8pm til 11pm and costs just £5 to get in. Soul of the 60s – The Phoenix, Cavendish Sq
If you’re after non-stop dancing to some of the greatest soul tracks in history, then pop September 15th in your diary right now. From whether you like getting Uptight to Stevie or Twisting the Night Away to Sam Cooke, there’s big tunes for everyone at one of London’s longest running Motown clubs. It runs from 9pm til 2am and Entry is £6. Tickets only available on the door.
Soul Family Sundays – Ronnie Scotts
The Ronnie Scotts powerhouse-show returns in its monthly slot on Sunday September 24th. Hosted by the ultra-talented Natalie Williams, Soul Family Sundays are a non-stop rollercoaster ride through classic tracks and brand new artists. Featuring some of the very best singers in town, this really is one of the most memorable shows on the soul circuit and an absolute must see. This always sells out so book in advance!
